Head of School welcome
Kaya and welcome
Dear Parents, Carers, and Friends of Perth Waldorf School,
Welcome to our Steiner school community. It is a pleasure to be actively involved in this wonderful environment as the Head of Perth Waldorf School. Whether you are new to our school or have been part of our community for years, I am thrilled to connect with each of you.
Central to the ethos of Steiner education is the focus on nurturing the whole child. We focus on developing their strength in thinking, in feeling, and physical willpower through academics, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, imagination, creative arts, and a focus on healthy lifestyles and movement. We actively support less screen time in favour of more human interaction and movement. We are very successful in creating an environment where every student is seen, feels valued, is inspired, and critically, is empowered to live and work in the world, whatever they are called to be.
The Steiner Curriculum is one of four recognised curriculums by the WA Education Department, and we have highly dedicated teachers and staff committed to providing lessons that are rich, engaging, and encourage curiosity – in contrast to a monotonous ‘another brick in the wall’ approach!
Our education aligns with the core Steiner philosophy of beauty, goodness and truth:
- Beauty highlights the importance of aesthetics and sensory experiences in learning, which cultivate a sense of wonder and joy in students.
- Goodness refers to the moral and ethical development of students’ character and their potential to contribute positively to society.
- Truth focuses on intellectual and cognitive development, fostering an understanding of the world through accurate and thoughtful inquiry. As a result of our curriculum and the dedicated work of our teachers, we are delighted to graduate young adults who are well-rounded and balanced intellectually, emotionally, and morally.
We take pride in our beautiful, natural surroundings that offer a unique backdrop for experiential learning and outdoor activities.
We cherish the strong relationships we build with families and the community. The involvement and active interest of parents and carers play a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience we offer. As a supportive village of adults, we create an environment where children from 0 to 18 years old can thrive.
